Preston Grange is a happy, welcoming and caring school. We strive to create a stimulating and challenging high quality learning environment, which promotes respect and tolerance, and where ambition is nurtured in order for our children to fulfil high expectations.  The development of the “whole child” is central to our philosophy. In a safe and friendly environment, children learn effectively with highly effective pastoral support. We have very high expectations of behaviour and standards, and our curriculum meets our childrens’ developing needs and promotes excellent progress. Children are encouraged to always do their best and challenge themselves. They are encouraged to be resilient and become independent learners.                        

We celebrate diversity and encourage our children to respect and embrace differences. We have high and equal expectations of all pupils, regardless of social, cultural, linguistic or ethnic background and academic starting point. We celebrate that everybody is different but everybody is equal. Children are encouraged to treat each other with respect, kindness and good manners.

Parents and carers are encouraged to be deeply involved in their children’s learning and in the life of the school and we aim to provide a vivid picture of school and classroom life through the school website.

Our school values play an integral role in enhancing the quality of every aspect of school life for our pupils. In order to create a secure, caring atmosphere and an ethos of mutual trust and respect, we believe that it is important to foster a climate of understanding, acceptance and encouragement within the school, where each child’s worth is acknowledged and valued. We aim for our Values to show through everything that is said and done in school. Via a two year cycle, we focus on a monthly Value which is explored via Castle time (PSHCE lessons) assemblies and circle time. Our values are:

Our curriculum is underpinned by three key beliefs:

We offer a creative curriculum in a safe, caring and well-resourced environment. Excellent learning opportunities for all promote the raising of standards and the development of outstanding leaders for the future. We strive for high achievement and attainment in all areas.

2. OUR SCHOOL IS A PLACE WHERE VALUES ARE AT THE HEART OF ALL WE DO

We firmly believe that “happy children learn best” and are committed to providing an environment where all pupils feel valued and are able to learn and play together in a caring, happy, co-operative and safe atmosphere. It is the responsibility of children, staff, governors and parents to ensure that high standards are maintained in an atmosphere of mutual respect, trust, honesty, openness, fairness and consistency. 

 3. OUR SCHOOL IS A PLACE WHERE ALL LEARNERS LOVE TO LEARN

We believe in providing the best opportunities for everyone to achieve their potential. We work hard to provide support and challenge and to make learning fun for all. Our pupils have a voice and take a very active role in our school.
