In our school we teach PSHE (Personal Social and Health Education) across school through sessions on a Friday called 'Castle time'. The curriculum for PSHE is planned across school on a two year cycle, and includes the following content:
- SEALs (a structured whole-curriculum framework for developing children’s social, emotional and behavioural skills) SEALs covers the themes of: New beginnings, Getting on & falling out, Going for Goals, Good to be me, Relationships, Changes.
- Healthy Schools & healthy living
- SRE (Sex Relationships Education)
- Anti bullying
- Anti racism
- Charity days
- Our school values, which are:
(Respect, Responsibility, Understanding, Forgiveness, Hope, Courage,
Aspiration, Honesty, Peace, Appreciation, Thoughfulness and Generosity)
Generally PSHE is delivered through mixed age 'castles' on Friday afternoons, but sometimes the PSHE curriculum is delivered in classes when there is specific year group related content to be covered. The overview for Castle time and PSHE have been uploaded onto this page for Year 1 of the two year curriculum.
As part of the renewal of our Healthy Schools status this year, we have also worked on the SRE (Sex Relationships Education) curriculum as a staff, with input from the LA and we have designed and agreed a curriculum that we feel meets the needs of our children. Again, we have uploaded the overview of the year group content.
If you have any queries about any of the above content, please feel free to ask any questions.
